How to calculate the number of receiving cards/sending cards for indoor and outdoor LED displays

1. Calculation method of sending card and receiving card for indoor full-color LED display :

For example: Now the customer has customized a P2.5 indoor full-color display screen , which requires a width of 5 meters and a height of 2 meters.

1.1. Calculate how many modules to use.
  • The unit board size of the P2.5 display is: 32cm*16cm.
  • The number of modules used in width: 500cm/32cm=15.6, calculated as 15 sheets
  • The height uses the module 200cm/16cm=12.5, calculated as 12 sheets
  • (The number of calculation modules is generally calculated according to the small principle. If it is based on the large principle, it is very likely that it will not be installed. It depends on the specific situation and cannot be generalized.)
1.2. Calculate the resolution of length and width:
  • (The pixel of P2.5 indoor unit board is: 128*64)
  • The actual resolution of the LED display is: width: 128×15=1920, height: 64×12=768
1.3. Calculate the number of receiving cards.

(The receiving card of the indoor screen has a load width of 128 points, and the height is generally not limited. There are as many ports as there are and how many cards can be loaded. However, some manufacturers’ receiving cards have a limited height. It cannot be fully loaded, pay attention to the load parameters when purchasing)
  • Width: 1920÷128=15,
  • Height: 12 cards, choose a receiving card with 12 or 16 HUB75 interfaces, if it is a receiving card with 8 HUB75 interfaces, you need two lines, that is, 24 cards.
1.4. Calculate the number of sending cards (two-in-one video processor)
  • (The sending card generally controls 1.31 million points, and it does not need to be overloaded. The two-in-one video processor generally carries less than 650,000 points per network port)
  • 1920*768=1474560 points, approximately equal to 1.48 million points
  • If it is a sending card solution, you need 2 sending cards. If you use a two-in-one video processor, you need a video processor with 4 network ports (the two-in-one video processor can carry 650,000 points per network port, and each manufacturer may have some difference, pay attention to the loading parameters when purchasing)
2. Calculation method of sending card and receiving card for outdoor full-color LED display:
  • For outdoor full-color LED display, we can calculate it according to the number of cabinets, usually one card per box,
  • For example: the customer has customized a P10 outdoor full-color display, requiring a width of 20 meters and a height of 12 meters.
  • The P10 cabinet with the size of 96cm*96cm is selected, and it can be concluded that:
  • The number of cabinets required for width: 20÷0.96=20.8 is calculated as 20
  • The number of high-demand cabinets: 12÷0.96=12.5 is calculated as 15
2.1. Calculate the number of receiving cards.
  • Number of cabinets: 20×12=240
  • One card per box, 240 receiving cards are required
2.2. Calculation resolution:
  • According to the above calculation method, take an integer, the width is 20 boxes, and the height is 12 boxes.
  • The actual resolution of the display is:
  • Width: 20×96=1920 Height: 12×96=1152

2.3. Calculate the number of sending cards (two-in-one video processor)
  • (A sending card generally controls 1.31 million points, and it does not need to be overloaded. A network port of a two-in-one video processor generally controls 650,000 points
  • 1920*1152=2211840 points, approximately equal to 2.22 million points
  • If it is a sending card solution, you need 2 sending cards. If you use a two-in-one video processor, you need a video processor with 4 network ports (the two-in-one video processor can carry 650,000 points per network port, and each manufacturer may have some difference, pay attention to the loading parameters when purchasing)
Summary: In general, the receiving card is calculated according to the resolution of the display screen indoors, and calculated according to the number of boxes (one card per box or two boxes per card) outdoors. As for the sending card or the two-in-one video processor, the indoor and outdoor calculations are based on the screen resolution.
